Ad Romanos VII

[22] Infatti acconsento nel mio intimo alla legge di Dio,

[23] ma nelle mie membra vedo un'altra legge, che muove guerra alla legge della mia mente e mi rende schiavo della legge del peccato che è nelle mie membra.

[24] Sono uno sventurato! Chi mi libererà da questo corpo votato alla morte?

For I take delight in the law of God, in my inner self,
but I see in my members another principle
at war with the law of my mind,
taking me captive to the law of sin that dwells in my members.
