51 Er vollbringt mit seinem Arm machtvolle Taten:
Er zerstreut, die im Herzen voll Hochmut sind.
53 Die Hungernden beschenkt er mit seinen Gaben
und lässt die Reichen leer ausgehn. - (R)
54 Er nimmt sich seines Knechtes Israel an
und denkt an sein Erbarmen,
55 das er unsern Vätern verheißen hat,
Abraham und seinen Nachkommen auf ewig.

Ninive

„Jona fragt nicht, was Gott will und wer ihn nötig hat, sondern was ihm selbst Ruhe und Sicherheit bietet. So reist er übers Mittelmeer statt nach Osten, geht in die Wirtschaft statt in die Krankenhäuser, mengt sich unter die Großhandelsvertreter, statt Kanzel und Katheder in Großstadt zu suchen, oder: statt Kanzel und Katheder seines frommen Selbstbewusstseins zu verlassen wegen der befohlenen Hilfsaktion im Zentrum der Weltnöte. So wählt Jona heute die Freiheit. Freiheit heißt für ihn Befreiung vom Auftrag seines Herrn, Entfernung aus der Lebensgemeinschaft mit Jesus. Freiheit heißt Tarschisch, die Ferne, in der nichts mehr an ihn erinnert, die Sicherheit, in der man sich selbst leben kann ... Tarschisch wird uns nie befriedigen. Ninive bleibt unser Auftrag, nämlich die Bejahung der Aktion Gottes für die große Weltnot“

Baruch

“Justice is with the Lord, our God;
and we today are flushed with shame,
we men of Judah and citizens of Jerusalem,
that we, with our kings and rulers
and priests and prophets, and with our ancestors,
have sinned in the Lord’s sight and disobeyed him.

Prayer

For me, prayer is a surge of the heart; it is a simple look turned toward Heaven, it is a cry of recognition and of love, embracing both trial and joy; in a word, something noble, supernatural, which enlarges my soul and unites it to God.... I have not the courage to look through books for beautiful prayers.... I do as a child who has not learned to read, I just tell our Lord all that I want and He understands."

Rejoicing your strength

Today is holy to the LORD your God.
Do not be sad, and do not weep”–
for all the people were weeping as they heard the words of the law.
He said further: “Go, eat rich foods and drink sweet drinks,
and allot portions to those who had nothing prepared;
for today is holy to our LORD.
Do not be saddened this day,
for rejoicing in the LORD must be your strength!”
