Self-surrender

They think self-surrender means to say, “I have no mind. I have no heart. I only believe and follow, for I am nothing.”
This is not self-surrender—this is denial of the truth. For it is saying there is a place where G–dliness cannot be—namely your mind and your heart.
G‑d did not give you a brain that you should abandon it, or a personality that you should ignore it. These are the building materials from which you may forge a sanctuary for Him, to bring the Divine Presence into the physical realm.
Don’t run from the self with which G‑d has entrusted you. Connect your entire being to its Essential Source. Permeate every cell with the light of self-surrender.

Einem unbekannten Gott

 Diese Inschrift deutet Paulus auf  den einen Gott, der alles erschaffen hat und regiert. Leben und Atem und alles hat der Mensch von ihm. Gott zu suchen ist seine hohe Aufgabe. Bis dahin (V. 28) sagt Paulus nur das, was auch die besten Denker der heidnischen Welt gewusst oder geahnt haben. Dann aber kommt das Neue: Dieser Gott, der über allem Geschaffenen steht, kümmert sich um die Menschen. Er überlässt sie nicht ihrer eigenen Weisheit oder Torheit. Er stellt dem Menschen ein Ziel und eine Grenze. Es gibt eine Auferstehung der Toten und einen Tag des Gerichts. Jesus als der Weltenrichter: damit schließt diese denkwürdige Predigt. Sie war ein glatter Misserfolg. Paulus wird daraus die Lehre ziehen und in Zukunft nicht mehr die Weisheit der Menschen, sondern die Torheit des Kreuzes predigen.

Humility - authentic

You are G‑d’s needle with which He sews the many patches of Creation into a single garment for His glory.
At one end, the needle must be hard and sharp, to squeeze through the ordeal. But the other end must have a vacant hollow, a nothingness with which to hold the thread.
With the world, be firm and sharp. Within, feel how small you are before the Infinite.

Humility has to be real.

Real humility means transcendence of the self.
Moses, it is written, was the most humble of all men.
Obviously, he knew who he was. He knew that of all men, he alone was chosen to accomplish the greatest tasks of history --to lead an entire nation out from bondage and bring them to the greatest revelation that would ever be. He was the loftiest of all prophets, who spoke directly to G-d whenever he wished.
He knew all this and yet he was humble.
Because Moses told himself, "This is not my own achievement. This is what I have done with the powers G-d has granted me. Perhaps had someone else been given these same powers, perhaps that someone else would have done a better job."
